I Can’t Find The Words is a game prototype created for a graduate class at Concordia University. My goal for the project was to co-op mechanics from existing games to create a metaphor for social anxiety, drawing upon my experiences growing up with a speech impediment.

Like so many games about anxiety, I Can't Find The Words takes place in a high school. Players must navigate the halls of the school as a sort of social obstacle course and, as the game progresses, the protagonist will be unwilling to enter certain areas.

I Can't Find The Words co-opts graphics and backgrounds from Game Boy games (primarily Pokémon) for its retro aesthetic. As with all games created in GB Studio, the game can be exported as a functional Game Boy ROM to be played on a emulator or original hardware.
